Why consider BOTOX with Dr. Weber in Denver?

Facial aging can greatly diminish one’s self-confidence, especially if you still feel quite youthful. It can be alarming to look in the mirror and see someone so different from who you once were. Fortunately, there is a solution that can help roll back the clock and restore your quality of life. BOTOX minimizes facial aging, seen as wrinkles, fine lines, and creases. BOTOX reduces action in the tiny muscles responsible for creating frown lines and smile lines, restoring a smoother, more youthful appearance.

What is BOTOX?

BOTOX is an FDA-approved product for the treatment of wrinkles. The treatment can temporarily remove facial wrinkles on the forehead, between the eyebrows, and around the eyes and nose.

It can also elevate and shape the eyebrow, lift the heavy corners of the mouth, and slim and refine the width of the lower face in patients with a bulky masseter muscle. This also has the effect of reducing symptoms of TMJ disorder.

Who makes a good BOTOX candidate?

Most people initially interested in BOTOX are looking to improve moderate to severe facial wrinkles located in areas that BOTOX can treat, such as on the forehead, around the eyes, near frown lines, or around the mouth and neck. BOTOX treats “dynamic wrinkles,” which are wrinkles that occur from dynamic facial movements like smiling, frowning, and other facial expressions. Patients should be in good general health.

Generally, most people interested in BOTOX will be able to undergo treatment because BOTOX is a safe, minimally invasive procedure. However, there are certain people who should not undergo treatment, including the following:

  • Individuals who are allergic to BOTOX (incredibly rare)
  • Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding
  • Those with an active skin infection at the planned site of injection
  • Individuals with certain muscular or neurological diseases or who are generally not well

Where can BOTOX be used?

BOTOX can be used in a variety of facial areas. Some of the more common areas treated are as follows:

  • BOTOX can soften horizontal forehead creases or lift and shape the eyebrows (BOTOX brow lift).
  • BOTOX can reduce frown lines, also known as the dreaded “11s.”
  • BOTOX can soften crow’s feet and periorbital lines.
  • BOTOX can reduce nasal “bunny” lines and also raise the droopy nasal tip.
  • BOTOX can reduce lip lines or “smoker lines.” It can also lift and shape drooping corners of the mouth.
  • BOTOX can slim the lower face by reducing the size of the masseter muscle.
  • BOTOX can also be used to reduce the symptoms of TMJ disorder and reduce jaw pain.
  • BOTOX can improve neck banding or “cords.”
  • BOTOX can also be used to treat migraines that do not respond to traditional migraine medications.
  • BOTOX can also be used to dramatically reduce excessive sweating of the armpits, palms and soles of the feet.

What can I expect from the BOTOX procedure?

Treatments are performed by Dr. Weber and take only a few minutes to complete. Because there is little to no discomfort, anesthesia is not required, though a numbing cream can be used to maximize comfort.

A fine needle is used to inject BOTOX into specific muscles. As mentioned earlier, the patient will experience very little discomfort.

The effects of BOTOX treatment take three to four days to appear, reach the maximum benefit within one to two weeks, and last up to three to four months, depending upon the amount of BOTOX injected and the patient’s muscle strength. When the effects begin to wear off, you will notice a return of muscle activity in the treated areas. We advise our clients to schedule a follow-up treatment every three months. Most patients choose to return four times per year for treatment.

What are the side effects of BOTOX?

In general, BOTOX treatments have very few side effects, as the treatment is minimally invasive, and there is little to no recovery time for the injection. You should be able to resume your normal activities immediately. Occasionally, a small bruise can result from the injection, but this can be camouflaged immediately with makeup.

Temporary side effects can occur if the BOTOX migrates from the injection site. For this reason, we ask that you do not rub or massage the treatment area for twelve hours after the injection. There are no known serious side effects associated with the use of BOTOX at the dosages that we employ.

BOTOX FAQs

Can you have BOTOX injected in several places at the same time?

Absolutely. BOTOX is often used on several different parts of the face and neck with no ill effects.

What results can I expect, and when will I see them?

You should expect reduced wrinkles and lines in your face, resulting in a more youthful look. The effects of BOTOX treatment take three to five days to appear and last up to three to four months depending upon the amount of BOTOX injected and the patient’s muscle strength.

If I want to “prep” my face for a particular event, how far out should I get the BOTOX treatment?

We suggest receiving BOTOX injections at least two weeks in advance of a particular event in order to allow for the maximum effect of BOTOX to take place.

How should I prepare for the procedure?

We will help you prepare. Dr. Weber will go over the details of the procedure with you, such as the number of units to be injected. His patient care coordinators will discuss the cost of your individualized BOTOX treatment. We don’t believe in surprises. We want you to be educated. You should avoid blood-thinning medications such as Aspirin and ibuprofen, and supplements such as fish oil for two weeks prior to your injections. If you require daily Aspirin treatments due to a medical condition, this does not necessarily eliminate BOTOX as an option for you, but Dr. Weber will need to discuss the increased risk of bruising that these medications create.

What happens the day of the procedure?

It won’t be all that different from any other day. You will see Dr. Weber, he will administer the injections, and then you will be on your way. Think of it like any other trip to see the doctor.

How long does the treatment take?

The process shouldn’t take any more than 10 minutes. Of course, if you are new to BOTOX, your first consultation appointment will require additional time to ensure that you are a good candidate for the treatment and that all of your questions have been answered.

What’s the recovery time?

You should be able to resume your normal activities immediately after your treatment.

How many times should I get BOTOX after my first treatment?

As soon as wrinkles begin to return, you can receive BOTOX again. There is no strict limit to how many treatments you can receive.

What happens if I discontinue BOTOX use after the first treatment? Will my wrinkles look worse than before I started treatment?

Absolutely not. Your wrinkles should return to their original appearance once the BOTOX wears off. Discontinuation of BOTOX will not worsen the wrinkles.

How safe is BOTOX?

BOTOX is extremely safe when performed by an experienced physician.

Does BOTOX treatment hurt?

No. BOTOX itself causes no pain. A needle is used to insert the BOTOX, and we can use a topical numbing cream to lessen the pain of the needle. The vast majority of our patients tolerate the treatments without requiring any numbing cream.

Will BOTOX treatment make me look like I’ve had work done?

When treated by someone who is licensed, trained, and has medical expertise in facial anatomy, you will not lose the ability to show expression. Nor should you experience “Spock” eyebrows are any other unusual facial changes.

What if I’m unhappy with the results of my BOTOX treatment?

We don’t anticipate that you will be dissatisfied with the results. We will work with you beforehand, however, to ensure that you will be happy with the treatment. However, in most cases, the results of BOTOX can be improved with additional targeted injections. We always advise new clients to return in the first one to two weeks if they have any concerns about their results.
