Here you will find answers to many of your questions regarding the Botox procedure.
Botox is an FDA-approved product for the treatment of wrinkles. The treatment can temporarily remove facial wrinkles on the forehead, between the eyebrows, and around the eyes and nose. It can also elevate and shape the eyebrow, lift the heavy corners of the mouth, and slim and refine the width of the lower face in patients with a bulky masseter muscle.
Why Get Botox?
If you’ve ever looked at your reflection in the mirror and wished you could soften the appearance of wrinkles on your face, rest assured, you’re not alone. Botox can provide an ideal solution for those seeking a more youthful appearance. And contrary to popular opinion, treatment isn’t reserved for the rich and famous.
Many Botox patients seek treatment to improve something they are embarrassed or self-conscious about. For them, plastic surgery is about much more than just aesthetics. It’s about feeling good and boosting self-esteem. There are also medical reasons for Botox injections. Botox can be used to treat muscle spasticity, migraines, excessive sweating, uncontrolled blinking, neuropathic pain, and even some allergy symptoms.
If you believe you will have greater self-confidence and a better sense of well-being by softening the wrinkles on your face, then perhaps it is time to think about a Botox procedure.
Botox is a safe and relatively inexpensive cosmetic solution for softening prominent wrinkles. Botox works by blocking signals from the nerves to muscles. This means the injected muscle cannot contract, causing the wrinkles to soften. Botox is most often used on the forehead, crow’s feet, and frown lines, but it can be used in other areas as well. Take a look below to see the different ways Botox can help to improve your appearance.
Where Can Botox Be Used?
Botox can be used in a variety of facial areas. Some of the more common areas treated are as follows:
- Forehead. Botox can soften horizontal forehead creases or lift and shape the eyebrows (Botox brow lift).
- Frown lines. Botox can reduce or eliminate frown lines also known as the dreaded “11s.”
- Eyes. Botox can soften crow’s feet and periorbital lines.
- Nose. Botox can eliminate nasal “bunny” lines and also raise the droopy nasal tip.
- Mouth. Botox can reduce lip lines or “smoker lines.” It can also lift and shape drooping corners of the mouth.
- Lower face. Botox can slim the lower face by reducing the masseter muscle.
- Neck. Botox can improve neck banding or “cords.”
Botox can also be used to treat migraines that do not respond to traditional migraine medications.
Good Candidates for Botox
Most people initially interested in Botox are looking to improve moderate to severe facial wrinkles located in areas that Botox can treat, such as on the forehead, around the eyes, near frown lines, or around the neck. Botox treats “dynamic wrinkles”, which are wrinkles that occur from dynamic facial movements like smiling, frowning, and other facial expressions. Patients should be in good general health.
Generally, most people interested in Botox will be able to undergo treatment as Botox is a safe, minimally invasive procedure. However, there are certain people who should not undergo treatment, including the following:
- Individuals who are allergic to Botox (incredibly rare)
- Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding
- Those with an active skin infection at the planned site of injection
- Individuals with certain muscular or neurological diseases or who are generally not well

Botox before and after
The Botox Procedure
Treatments are performed by Dr. Weber and take only a few minutes to complete. Because there is little to no discomfort, anesthesia is not required, though a numbing cream can be used to maximize comfort. A fine needle is used to inject Botox into specific muscles. As mentioned earlier, the patient will experience very little discomfort. The effects of Botox treatment take three to four days to appear, reach the maximum benefit within one to two weeks and last up to three to four months depending upon the amount of Botox injected and the patient’s muscle strength. When the effects begin to wear off, you will notice a return of muscle activity in the treated areas. We advise our clients to schedule a follow-up treatment when they notice troubling lines returning. Most patients choose to return three to four times per year for treatment.
The Recovery Process
We like to stress that there is little to no recovery period for the Botox treatment. You should be able to resume your normal day-to-day activities immediately.
Side Effects of Botox
In general, Botox procedures have very few side effects, as the treatment is minimally invasive and there is little to no recovery time for the injection. You should be able to resume your normal activities immediately. Occasionally, a small bruise can result from the injection, but this can be camouflaged immediately with makeup. Temporary side effects can occur if the Botox migrates from the injection site. For this reason, we ask that you do not rub or massage the area for twelve hours after the injection. There are no known serious side effects associated with the use of Botox, Dysport, or Xeomin at the dosages that we employ.
I find it very difficult to fully express in words my enthusiasm and gratitude in regards to my whole surgical process with Dr. Weber and Weber Facial Plastic Surgery. When I look at myself in the mirror I now see a better, natural, more rested, rejuvenated version of myself. I found Dr.
I have received excellent results that have truly taken years, have opened up my eyes and I no longer look angry all the time due to my former heavy lids. Recovery has been virtually pain free, little bruising, and a breeze. My incisions are hardly noticeable at two weeks out and will further improve. I love my new eyes. I also had chin and cheek implants performed at the same time and am equally happy with these results as well. I find the implant recovery process a little bit more difficult due to the swelling, but this with resolve itself with just a little bit of time.

Frequently Asked Questions about Botox
Can you have Botox injected in several places at the same time?
Absolutely. Botox is often used on several different parts of the face and neck with no ill effects.
What results can I expect, and when will I see them?
You should expect reduced wrinkles and lines in your face, resulting in a more youthful look. The effects of Botox treatment take three to four days to appear and last up to three to four months depending upon the amount of Botox injected and the patient’s muscle strength.
If I want to “prep” my face for a particular event, how far out should I get the Botox treatment?
We suggest receiving Botox injections approximately one month in advance of a particular event in order to allow for the maximum effect of Botox to take place.
Can I receive Botox treatment for migraines?
Yes! Call us at (303) 792-2224 or email us at firstname.lastname@example.org to discuss this further.
How should I prepare for the procedure?
We will help you prepare. Dr. Weber will go over the details of the procedure with you, such as the number of units to be injected and the cost per unit. We don’t believe in surprises. We want you to be educated. You should avoid blood thinning medications such as Aspirin for two weeks prior to your injections.
What happens the day of the procedure?
It won’t be all that different from any other day. You will see Dr. Weber, he will administer the injections, and then you will be on your way. Think of it like any other trip to see the doctor.
How long does the treatment take?
The process shouldn’t take any more than 10 minutes.
What’s the recovery time?
You should be able to resume your normal activities immediately after your treatment.
How many times should I get Botox after my first treatment?
As soon as wrinkles begin to return, you can receive Botox again. There is no strict limit to how many treatments you can receive.
What happens if I discontinue Botox use after the first treatment? Will my wrinkles look worse than before I started treatment?
Absolutely not. Your wrinkles should return to their original appearance once the Botox wears off. Discontinuation of Botox will not worsen the wrinkles.
How safe is Botox?
Botox is extremely safe when performed by an experienced physician.
Does Botox treatment hurt?
No. Botox itself causes no pain. A needle is used to insert the Botox, and we use a topical numbing cream to lessen the pain of the needle. Some patients report it feels like being pinched.
Will Botox treatment make me look like I’ve had work done?
When treated by someone who is licensed, trained, and has medical expertise in facial anatomy, you will not lose the ability to show expression.
What if I’m unhappy with the results of my Botox treatment?
We don’t anticipate that you will be dissatisfied with the results. However, if you are, the good news is that Botox injections are not permanent. We will work with you beforehand, however, to ensure that you will be happy with the treatment. However, in most cases, the results of Botox can be improved with additional targeted injections. We always advise new clients to return in the first one to two weeks if they have any concerns about their results.
